Now maybe you’re thinking: ‘Wait, what is this? To what did I subscribe?’ Well, this is your source for everything related to the New Star Comics world. Now I know your next thought is, ‘I forgot, what is New Star Comics?’ It’s only the hottest local comic book company based in Oklahoma City! We specialize in telling superheroic stories set in and around the metro area. Action, drama, comedy, suspense, we got it all!

LINEUP
As a reminder from our last Dispatch, the New Star lineup consists of two flagship titles currently in production. These series are set in an Oklahoma City much like our own with one key difference. Over the years a number of individuals have risen with special, enhanced abilities. Whether by birth or accident, these people became known as metahumans. While most keep their abilities a secret, there are those that strive to use them for good. While others prefer to use them for their own illegal gain.
THE MIGHTY BOOMERS
When a gang of street thugs forces a young metahuman into a life of crime to protect his abducted sister, a couple of established metahuman heroes must come together to save them both. Thus begins issue 1 of THE MIGHTY BOOMERS. This series follows the formation of Oklahoma City’s first metahuman superhero team and their adventures protecting the city. Three issues of a ten-issue arc have so far been released and are currently available at New World Comics (6219 N Meridian, OKC, OK 73112).
GARBAGE MAN
While the Boomers covers the action-packed world of high flying metahumans, GARBAGE MAN drops to the streets and delves into the back alleys of Oklahoma City. When a homeless man’s best friend disappears, he embarks on a journey through the underworld to find him. He soon stumbles onto an insidious conspiracy that threatens everyone he knows and holds dear. Garbage Man shows that even the so-called least among us can be heroes. We have three issues out of a ten-issue arc currently on the stands at New World Comics.
WHAT’S NEW/ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Mighty Boomers #4 and Garbage Man #4 are coming! In fact, the books have been completed and will be off to the printers next week! TMB #4 takes a brief step back in time to see the origin of Spirit, the soon-to-be official member of the team who was introduced in issue 3. Garbage Man #4 follows Nick as he continues his search for Aaron, which requires him to do something he hasn’t done in years…get a job! Check out a couple teaser pages of each below!

SUMMER CON SEASON
This summer we had the privilege of having tables at our first full comic book conventions! Let’s recap them below.
SoonerCon30, June 24-26, 2022
Our first convention of the summer was SoonerCon in Norman at the Embassy Suites. A 3-day event, we joint with Foreign Press Comics to get a table situated across the hall from the main programming room. The entire weekend was a great success. We met a ton of great people and sold a decent number of comics to boot! The sights and sounds were almost overwhelming; never seen so many cosplayers in one place! Costumes of all varieties and level of sophistication were everywhere. Our own Garbage Man even made an appearance!
It was a lot of fun. We also talked to one of the organizers who said we would be asked to be on some panels next year. Exciting!
New World Comic Con, July 30, 2022
Next up was New World Comic Con at the State Fairgrounds. A one-day event, we had our own table on the north side of the building. The con was less trafficked than Sooner but it was a great time nonetheless. We had a couple preview copies on hand for Garbage Man #4 and The Mighty Boomers #4 and introduced our new business cards.
Each is set up like a case from the Metahuman Containment Agency, the in-universe group that handles issues pertaining to metahuman activity. They feature the various characters from the New Star Comics along with some of their statistics. It was fun watching people, especially kids, pick out their favorite. We also signed up our first subscribers to this very newsletter! All in all, we had a lot of fun and can’t wait for next year.

Our first COM is none other than Garbage Man! Just who is this masked vigilante? Let’s take a look at the MCA’s classified files!

Notes: It is believed that this individual is a local transient who lives on the streets. No known group affiliation though there have been reports of contact with the metahuman known as RELOAD (please see MCA Case File #21743). Suspect is believed to have one sister. Mother deceased. Father’s identity and whereabouts unknown. Suspect has no known base of operations. Multiple reports indicate overzealous and violent action on the part of the suspect toward others he deems as criminal. Current location unknown.
